If you want to support the rights of animals, consider volunteering at your local
shelter, supporting responsible legislation, or making a small donation to the charity
of your choice. Many national organizations exist that depend on your support to
man their shelters and organize local events. Walk dogs, play with puppies and kittens,
and assist with the cleaning of cages to help them develop and give them a sanitary
living space. Make a difference by rehabilitating animals that were victims of neglect
and cruelty.
We recommend the following organizations, but many local or regional charities exist
and are worthy of support. Take a few hours and support the rights of the animals
we care about so much.
Humane Society - The Humane Society was established
in 1954 and is backed by over 10 million Americans. They work to reduce suffering
and advocate sensible legislation, cruelty investigation, and public education programs.
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
- The ASPCA was founded in 1866 and is one of the most respected animal welfare
organizations in operation. The ASPCA works to treat injured animals, prevent cruelty,
support humane legislation, and sharing resources with shelters across the USA.
Animal Legal Defense Fund - Since 1979, the ALDF
has been fighting to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through
the legal system.
National Audubon Society - The Audubon’s mission
is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife,
and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity.
